Beech Properties celebrated in June 2010 after collecting an accolade at the presitigious Inaugural Energy Innovation Awards.
The awards, the brainchild of Cheshire’s world-class Energy Innovation Centre, attracted entries from across the UK and Europe and saw leading figures from across the energy sector descend on Manchester on 17 June 2010 for a black-tie dinner at the Hilton Deansgate Hotel.
Beech Properties shone in the Consumer Benefit Award, collecting a commendation for its contribution to reducing carbon emissions.
Stephen Beech said “I’m ecstatic to win this award and be recognised as the first landlord in the UK to offer carbon neutral properties. Our properties are booked up to two years in advance which proves going green is not only good for the environment, it’s good for business. There’s 400% government grants available for solar panels for everyone in the UK. People need to take advantage of the offer before it ends.”
The inaugural Energy Innovation Awards were supported by a host of leading organisations including Northwest Regional Development Agency, European Regional Development Fund, Department for Energy and Climate Change, EA Technology Group, EA Technology Ventures, Energy Networks Association, Electricity North West Envirolink Northwest, IET, Scottish and Southern Energy and UKTI.
The Awards, hosted by writer, columnist and presenter Guy Browning, have been hailed a great success and plans are already in place to build upon the success of the awards in 2011.
Addressing the 200 strong audience, Denise Massey, Director of the Energy Innovation Centre, paid tribute to all the winners as she said: “These awards not only recognise the marvellous advancements in technology being developed behind the scenes, but also the sheer tenacity of individuals and teams investing their all in creating new solutions and technologies. Success happens after most people have given up and we’ve shared our evening with some truly remarkable individuals. Well done to all the winners. We hope that these awards inspire further innovation within the industry here in the UK an internationally.”
Steven Broomhead, Chief Executive of NWDA, said: “The Energy Innovation Awards are testament to the hard work taking place across the region as we work towards the goal of low carbon Northwest. I’m pleased to support these awards and reward companies for their investment into energy-efficient technologies.
“The region is a leading example, developing energy-efficient, high-tech environmental technologies. I hope that the success of this year’s awards spurs others on so that we can continue to build on this success.”
